I was a bit melancholic about the internet yesterday, but I realize now that the feeling mostly came from the fact that search is very broken almost everywhere

Outside of fedi nobody uses hashtags anymore. So if you want to discover new opinion and current discussion on let’s say gardening you need to search specific terms and hope people are using them in their post

In September 2024, I finally took the leap and launched my art newsletter, something I was dreaming about for months beforehand.

Flash-forward to 2025, and I still kept the habit of publishing one new issue every single week, first on Sunday evening and then on Tuesday evening. With just a few breaks, it's more than 60 newsletter issues that I've written, all between 800 and 2,000 words long. And every time, with new art to show or a topic that deeply interests me.

Artists often have this shame about “promoting” what they are doing, even if it’s something they do for no monetary gain. They are afraid of bothering people, or they are doing the bare minimum when they have a new piece to show.

This is a trap I fall into way too much. But I’m slowly learning how foolish this is.

Here is a personal example:
All my illustrations are set in the same universe and continuity. For years, I’ve hidden details and recurring patterns (signs, landmarks, characters…) in order to connect them all. But here is the thing: I never told anyone about it.

Located east of the country, this city (commonly called the Blue Roof City for its iconic tiles) is quiet and unremarkable for the untrained eye. Except maybe for the proximity of the mountain in the north and the eastern sea.

I’m very critical of my art.

I put a lot of effort into my illustrations, but each time I finish a piece I can’t help but clearly see all the flaws: The anatomy is wrong, the subject not interesting enough, those details distracting, or I’ve been lazy in some other aspect. There is always something I see that can be improved!

But to me, it’s not so much of an issue, nor something that takes away my joy of making art.

For personal website, one type of content that I think works uniquely well is the kind of page that gets updated sporadically, and is not time specific

So basically instead of making a blog post "Favorite games of 2024" you have a page "Favorite games" that you can update whenever you want and link people to

It can also be a portfolio, a blogroll, your stream schedule, list of resources...

It has been a good while since I've last shared progress on "Hi, Welcome to Froggy's!", my silly time management game about surviving the night shift at your local Froggy's store.

Progress has been very slow since the last update last year; reason being that I had to grind days and nights to finally get out of the job that inspired this game. And I'm happy to report that it worked!
I now have a way better situation, I changed country, and I also released a small project last Christmas (not on itch for now, but the game is really good imo ;) )

We were stuck in an airport for several hours now.
I was already supposed to arrive the day before, and I didn't know at the time, but I would have to wait another 9 hours before reaching my destination.

The weather was terrible, and the plane wasn't even there yet, so an elderly lady and I started to chat and help each other pass the time. I mentioned that art was my passion, and naturally I showed her my recently released gallery of illustration.

I recently opened my art shop, were I sell my artworks printed on posters, canvas and t-shirt.

Today I want to present to you a project I never talked about on the internet, only to a small circle of friends.

Between March and April of this year the metro app for the city of Toulouse stopped working for me. It was really annoying, because it was great to not have to worry about card and just use my phone for everything. I was too busy and lazy to get a metro card made, so I had to buy individual tickets for a few weeks.

Whether you want to build a business or just want to be popular, I think it is concerning that we put so much emphasis on making content for free on social media.

All of that is geared to build social status, clout, that by design platforms don't want you to use. They don't want users to leave, click on your Kickstarter link, read your blog post, explore the web outside of what they can control.

During the first lockdown, while seeing it falling into pieces, I got really interest in how our economy, and by extension the stock market, is working.
To be clear, in case you're worrying, I've never put any money into any stocks or financial assets: I was just really interested, and wondering if that could be something for me. So I read articles, watched lectures and studied books on the subject. I learned a ton of really interesting stuff and don't regret any of it.

And ultimately, all this new knowledge led me to the conclusion that no, I'm not gonna touch this shit.

It seems like almost everyone went through a "lucid dreams" phase, especially in their teens.

There's lot of content about it, and lot of technics are even commonly known: Write down your dreams, do reality testing regularly during the day, interrupt your sleep... But in the end, very few people actually manage to do it, and often feel discouraged and give up.

Social Media make you anxious and unhappy. You check your feed compulsively, but without much pleasure. You just want to spend more time in the real world.

Whatever your reason, limiting social media usage is extremely difficult. Those platform are designed to make you spend as much time as possible on them, to make you addicted; and chances are, you are.

I certainly was. Even if I never was a big poster, I was a huge consumer. Without going into too much gloomy details, at one point I was spending more time in front of Youtube than sleeping.

Since the very beginning of this site, so around 2017, I've used WordPress to manage my blog. It came preinstalled actually, and I've been really happy with it overall. But I finally decided to switch. I want to explain why, and what custom and flawed solution I created instead.

Back when I first bought the domain, I was just getting started with coding, and I had absolutely no interest in learning web programming.

Les jours de confinement sont parfois long, alors pour vous occuper j’ai dessiné des petites poupée à imprimer et découper chez toi.

Le fichier .zip contient un .svg que tu peux modifier et mettre en page avec un logiciel comme Inkscape; pour enfin l’imprimer ou composer ta poupée directement sur le logiciel !

Les Game Jams sont des exercices fantastiques.
